High Temperature Product Handling Conveyors
October 08, 2013
Nercon has designed and engineered conveyor systems for food and consumer goods manufacturers in temperatures ranging from 210 degrees to 40 below zero F. In this blog post, here are some examples of high temperature product handling conveyors:
Steam Shrink Tunnel Conveyors: Nercon supplies the linear vacuum chain conveyor that utilizes feed screws to space apart containers for steam shrink tunnels, manufactured by PDC. PDC is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) that makes shrink labeling equipment. The conveyors utilize special wear strip construction and wear strip mounting to allow for thermal expansion in the 210 degree steam tunnels.
Hot Sauce Filling Conveyors: Nercon has also engineered heat tunnel conveyors for hot sauce filling lines. In the video, the tunnels each had independent thermal controls varying from 120 degrees to 160 degrees F, and were used to pre-heat the glass before filling the jars with 200 degree F sauce. This equipment and heating process reduced breakage and waste typically caused from thermal shock. In the tunnels, conveyors were supplied with stainless steel chain and brass wear strips to withstand the hot temperatures.
Oven Infeed Conveyors: Nercon has also engineered oven infeed conveyors and baking pan handling lines, including the 12 ft. wide wire mesh conveyor shown in the video. A row of eight pans are fed into the 450 degree F oven utilizing an automatic sweep.
