The Flexibility and Versatility of Spiral Conveyor Systems
July 03, 2012
Spiral Conveyors are a compact and versatile elevating solution. Spiral Conveyors can be designed to carry product between floors and machines or over aisles. They can also be designed to handle a multitude of different consumer packages in many different manufacturing environments.
This Spiral Conveyor design has the flexibility for three different sizes of cases to be conveyed without any changeover. Friction-top chain is also used to insure smooth positive conveying without disturbing the cases. Designed with a uniform slope, the Spiral Conveyor insures smooth operation without disturbing the product. Another feature is a powered roller transfer to help cases travel over the “gap” between the in-feed conveyors and the spiral system.
Spiral Conveyor systems are also versatile. These systems can be constructed from mild steel for a dry environment, or with stainless steel construction for a wash-down environment. Additional sanitary features on this spiral elevator include spaced-off sanitary channel supports and polymer housing, plated insert spaced-off bearings.
Operating speeds up to 150 feet per minute are attainable depending upon the height change and product size and weight. The Spiral Conveyor is adaptable to customer requirements. Multiple lanes, slope and chain widths are available ranging from 3 1/4" to 15" (double 7 1/2"). The infeed and discharge location is also variable depending on the application.
