Bi-directional accumulation tables provide temporary storage space for products when normal production flow is interrupted due to momentary product blockage, malfunction, or conveyor system adjustment. This temporary storage space allows accumulation relief during a downstream pause maintaining maximum production efficiency and preventing unwanted bottlenecks and downtime.
This first-in-last-out (FILO) accumulator engages when a production line is disrupted causing the bi-directional belt to reverse. Sensors indicate products need to slowly begin accumulating and accumulation stops once full capacity is reached. When the production line is cleared, products are then gently pushed forward feeding back onto the primary conveyor line at the proper speed to prevent tipping. Standard bi-directional tables include a run-by conveyor with a single filing speed-up lane.
